Rihanna Named Face of Balmain's Spring/Summer 2014 Campaign
She's at it again. Our fave badgal Rihanna has revealed that she is the new face and spokeswoman for Balmain Spring/Summer 2014 campaign. Yesterday she made a splash all over instagram by revealing two of the photos that will begin appearing in magazines Jan. 2 2014, and today the full campaign shots were revealed.
The "What Now" singer has an obvious love for fashion and hasn't been afraid to "go there" with her looks. It's safe to say, the fashion industry embraced their badgirl back. He instagram is chalk full of jealousy inducing fashion, her line "Rihanna for Rivers Island" is a hit with the ladies all over, and she is an executive producer for the Bravo show "Styled to Rock." There is no limit to the star's shine and obvious sex appeal. Upon posting them on her instagram, she captioned the photo in true Rihanna fashion "Guess who's the new BALMAIN Woman???!!!!!!! #BALMAIN #MommaImadeIT #CaribbeanGalRunTing..."
It didn't shock me when I heard the news. Rih Rih and Balmain's creative director, Olivier Rousteing were never shy about their friendship and the love they have for one another. The designer said that working with Rihanna was "a dream come true." He was even quoted saying that she is an icon of his generation. (Who can disagree with that?)
Olivier told WWD, "When the woman that inspired you wears your creations, your vision feels complete," he continued on, "Rihanna embodies my vision of Balmain in this new campaign..." "In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world."
The badgal shot the campaign in New York City last month by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Rih's personal stylist Mel Ottenberg styled the pop icon for the project. The photos show Rihanna in what look like she is in a steam room where she is serving face and sexy. In one of the ads, the singer is dressed in a pink and white Kimono style coat that has been accessorized with white lace gold-toed and heeled booties.
This campaign makes the singer the second song bird to land a major spring 2014 fashion campaign. Earlier this mother, Givenchy announced and revealed Erykah Badu as their spokes model. Seems like the fashion world is in love with the queens of music. Hoping for Beyonce to be named as a spokes model soon.
