Summer Time Throwback

While I live in CT, I have to endure the snowfall that we are currently experiencing.  As I sit at my desk typing this, I can't help but remember my favorite summer outfit. I love the summer time, especially spending days at the beach, cook outs and parties. I've worn my favorite summer outfit to each and every one of those festivities that I mentioned. My outfit consisted of a black and white horizontal top, homemade shorts, and my favorite sandals.

I remember buying the top, which was originally a dress that didn't give me the appropriate coverage.  I got the top from a local shop called DOTS and simply took a pair of fabric scissors and cut off some of the bottom length and went on to sew hem it with the sewing machine. I loved the outcome of my handy work.

Next came my homemade shorts.  As some of you may know, I have been on a weight loss journey and when I put the pants on they were a tad bit on the large side.  Instead of throwing them out, I simply marked the cut off point on both legs and proceeded to cut them. Again came my handy sewing machine where I created a cuff at the bottom of the shorts.  I ended up not liking the way the cuff looked after sewing it so I grabbed some of these easy hemming things my grandmother bought for me and used them to hem the bottom of my pants.  They came out better than the first try and I left them like that.

Finishing off the outfit were a pair of gladiator sandal that I brought from DSW the summer of 2012 and a simple black belt that I've always had.  This had to be one of my favorite looks of the summer.

Winter Time Swag

Welp it's that time again guys and dolls! It is the winter time, the time where every person I know wishes that the summer would be here the very next day.  With all that cold weather, a lot of people enjoy staying in their homes, while others enjoy their time in the cold. I used to be one of the people who liked to spend their time in their homes where it is toasty and warm.  It wasn't until I started searching the web for some warm clothing to add to my collection, did I get excited about going winter clothes shopping.  Along the way I found some of my favorite pieces that I just can't wait to purchase. Let me know what you guys think!!

Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2014

It seems to me that the love affair Jason Wu had with the corset is finally over.  Keeping up with the trend of his Spring collection that was devoted to bias dressing, Wu focused on draping and "hybridized" separates for Pre-Fall that came along with some mixed results.  The collection boasts spiral cut ruffle dresses in mismatched dark autumn florals looked great with mannish shoes, while foulard print blouses came with ribbed cuff that he borrowed from athletic gear.  These subtle details gave the pieces a sport feel.
While there are a couple body-limning ensembles that he is known for, they carried more ease than usual.  This is all in thanks to the way he injected drape by splicing jersey knits with silk.  There long black gown that he created that is to die for.  Wu took a similar approach with his evening suits.  He cut a tuxedo jacket like a cardigan and on the bottom and paired it with a pair of slouchy, silk, track pants.

Wu described this collection as comfortable as "slipping on a sweater."

Congrats Allison McGevna!!!!

All of the big, beautiful, plus sized women can finally stand and rejoice. Fashion Blogger and plus size model Allison McGevna has launched her first collection entitled Twentyfour20 Designs!!!!!

Like me, you may have noticed the beautiful model all over in campaigns for Ashley Stewart, Fashion to Figure, Baby Phat, Monif C. and many more.

Her stunning beauty and her amazing sense of style makes it hard not to want to visit the model's blog, so it only makes even more sense that she birthed her own line of dresses for day and evening. Spending the last year brainstorming and working hard on making that dream come true. Last month at the Curvy Closets Show & Gala in Philadelphia, Allison presented her new clothing line and it was a big hit.  This doesn't surprise me, seeing as the stylish blogger and media personality has a style that screams "LOOK AT ME" and curves that will hypnotize anyone.  She knows what works for her body and knows what silhouettes fit a curvy body well.

"Women should never make apologies for wanting to look like the superstars that they are.  My clothes are for the woman who knows she is sexy, but doesn't need to show a lot of skin to prove it.  She's a confident, beautiful bombshell who not only owns her curves, but embraces them." - Allison speaks about her new line on her website.

Twentyfour20 Designs offer an array of beautiful dress for day and night in styles that are all under $200. A wonderful use of color with different fabrics are used to create dresses that will make heads turn. The  silhouettes are curve-hugging without being to cheesy of showing off too much. Every dress makes you feel sexy and sophisticated.  Currently the line goes up to a size 3X (22/24) but she expects to expand the line to and include all sizes via special order.  She believes that any woman of any shape and size deserves access to fabulous fashion without any limitations.

She's my type of woman!!!!!!
